PLANNING & IMPLEMENTATION

Installed and documented inventory system at Lyons Maid. This involved setting objectives and defining tasks to meet project requirements.

Evaluated competing software packages and decided which to procure based on their direct costs, maintenance and training commitments for the future, and an assessment of business viability of the suppliers (at Lyons Maid).

MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTING

Estimated resources (time, money, staff) needed by projects. Summarised budgets and resource requirements in advance (e.g. outside IT facilities and temporary clerical staff, and internal staff to analyse results).

Monitored progress quantitatively and qualitatively. E.g., in an investigation at Coopers & Lybrand: measured staff use and equipment use to track costs; cross-checked delivered function against objectives; co-ordinated efforts of internal programmers with the output of temporary clerical staff who were competing for computer availability and in demand for other work.
